We invite you to learn about our OCIA program, prepare to receive the Sacraments of Initiation, and become full members of the Catholic family.

What is OCIA?

OCIA stands for Order of Christian Initiation of Adults. It is the process by which adults, teens, and children (ages 7+) prepare for full initiation into the Catholic Church through the sacraments of Baptism, and/or Confirmation, and/or First Eucharist. This journey integrates an overview of scripture, doctrine, and Catholic tradition, as well as the practice of the liturgical, moral, communal, and prayer life of the church. Who is OCIA for?

OCIA serves those who have not been baptized, or have been baptized in another Christian tradition, and desire to become Catholic. OCIA is also for baptized Catholics who have not received the sacraments of Confirmation and/or First Eucharist.

How do we prepare for OCIA?

Adults prepare for OCIA by attending Emmaus, a program designed to walk participants through scripture, doctrine, and Church history. We journey together as a community of OCIA inquirers, new converts, returning Catholics, and lifelong Catholics while learning how to fully live our Christian faith. Youth (grades 6-12) prepare for OCIA through Youth Group. Children (age 7 through grade 5) prepare for OCIA through Children's Faith Formation.

For those seeking Baptism, at least one full calendar year of formation is mandated by the Archdiocese of Denver. For further timeframe details, please contact the relevant coordinator listed below.
